Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer

Alphonse O. Okpor is the Chief Executive Officer of African Alliance Insurance Company Limited. He has spent over 22 years in the Nigerian Insurance Industry having started his Insurance career initially with the Company for fifteen years. He resigned to join African Development Insurance Company Limited as Deputy General Manager. He became the Chief Operating Officer after one year. He later joined Insurance Brokers of Nigeria Limited, a member of Mash Group worldwide which is also the world’s largest Insurance Broking Group as Head of Marketing and Business Development for 5 years until he left to join BAICO Insurance Plc in 2003 as its’ Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. In 2006 he left BAICO to return to African Alliance Insurance Company Limited as its Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Okpor holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Insurance from the University of Lagos and he is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London and Nigeria. He is also an Associate Member of Nigeria Institute of Management. He has attended several management courses both locally and abroad such as Actuarial Management, of a Life Office (Munich Re, Germany), Management Development for Chief Executive (Lagos Business School, Lagos, Nigeria) and Negotiating Skills (Johannesburg, South Africa).
